Poem: Rise Up

Rise Up

Too many failed dreams and empty days
Thick sorrow and fleeting breath

I don’t feel my soul anymore, but I still hurt
The burden of my sins is crushing me

There is nowhere left to fall and no more tears to cry
So as I laid down to sleep, as I embraced the darkness

I felt pain but I heard laughter
I saw darkness but felt light

I would have given up
But now that I’m awake, I won’t settle for surrender
I’m not driven by anger, just anguish

I am not a warning, I am a flame
A fever that burns the past

I ignite the air around me and shine brightly
I push hard and climb fast

I go beyond the boundary
I unleash such terrible power

No more limitations
No time for regret
